Hey, can we talk about gift-giving for a second?
The holidays tend to bring a lot of pressure to get it right—finding the perfect gift, wrapping it beautifully, and hoping it’ll be cherished forever.
But let’s be honest: most of us don’t remember the piles of stuff we’ve received over the years.
What we remember are the moments—the laughter, the shared experiences, the inside jokes, the love.
That’s why this year, I’m leaning into intentional gift-giving.
It’s not about the price tag or the number of presents under the tree; it’s about giving with thought, meaning, and purpose.
However, If I’m being totally transparent, I still need to get my husband on board with this idea.
He tends to go overboard at the last minute, feeling like we’re not giving the kids enough, even though the kids have WAY MORE than enough, so I guess this newsletter is directed to him more than anyone else 😉
Why intentional gift-giving matters
We live in a world where more is often seen as better, but all that more can quickly lead to overwhelm—for us and for our kids.
The toys pile up, the clutter increases, and the magic we’re trying to create gets lost in the chaos.
But when we focus on less stuff and more meaning, something shifts.
We create space for connection, gratitude, and experiences that bring lasting joy.
3 ways to gift intentionally this year
Focus on Quality Over Quantity
Instead of buying several small gifts, focus on one or two meaningful ones. Think about what will genuinely light someone up—something they’ll use, cherish, or remember.
For kids, this could mean a single toy they’ve been eyeing or something that sparks creativity, like art supplies or a building kit.
For adults, it could be a cozy blanket, a favorite book, or something handmade.
Gift Experiences, Not Just Things
Some of the best gifts aren’t things—they’re moments. Tickets to a play, a membership to a local museum, a family day trip, or even a "coupon" for a baking day together can mean so much more than another item to unwrap.
These gifts create memories that last far longer than the novelty of a new toy or gadget.
Involve Your Kids in Giving
One of my favorite ways to make gifting more meaningful is to involve my kids. Let them help pick out or make gifts for others—it teaches them that giving isn’t just about “stuff” but about thoughtfulness and connection.
This year, we’re creating a few handmade gifts together.
The process is messy (so frickin’ messy!), but it’s also filled with laughter and love (with a sprinkle of fighting, frustration and crying).
And honestly, those are the moments I hope they’ll carry with them - the love and laughter part, not the fighting and crying 😆
If you’re interested in more intentional gift-giving ideas, I created three gift guides a few years ago that any kid or family member would love.
A mindful shift
Intentional gift-giving doesn’t mean you have to forgo all the fun or excitement of the holidays.
It’s about shifting the focus—choosing fewer, more meaningful gifts, embracing experiences, and creating a season filled with connection rather than clutter.
This approach has made the holidays feel lighter for me—less about crossing things off a list and more about leaning into what really matters.
And isn’t that what the season is all about?
👉🏼 What’s one way you’re approaching gift-giving differently this year? Are you leaning into experiences, simplifying your gift list, or trying something new? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Wishing you a season filled with joy, intention, and meaningful moments.

Here's What My Clients Are Saying:
When in session with Xuan, I could feel her calming and centering energy even through a computer screen. She has such a gentle yet commanding presence that made me feel safe and confident. Xuan made me feel very seen, heard, and like no topic was off limits. Even if it was something I really didn’t want to admit out loud, she held the space with ease and allowed me to feel brave enough to express myself without feeling judged. - Chelsea L.
