Hey, if you’re new here—I’m Xuan.
Writer, mindful living coach, homeschool mom, former teacher, and current human-in-progress. I help overwhelmed women slow down, stop people-pleasing, and create a life they don’t want to escape from. Around here, I share cozy reflections on intentional living, motherhood, aging (hello, almost-50), and all the messy beauty in between. If you like what you’re reading, consider joining The Cozy Life Circle. You’ll get deeper reflections, private podcast episodes, and other cozy extras that help you live a little slower and a lot more true to yourself.
I didn’t go off-grid. I didn’t delete every app, get a dummy phone, or vanish into the woods.
I just… needed a break.
A break from the endless scrolling.
From the pings and notifications and the way my thumb automatically opened Instagram before I even realized what I was doing.
From waking up and reaching for my phone before I reached for myself.
So I gave myself a low-tech week. Not a total digital detox—just less. Less noise. Less urgency. Less performing, checking, refreshing. More real life.
In this week’s vlog, I bring you along for:
The little changes I made to create more quiet
What I did with the time I usually gave to scrolling
How I stayed connected without being constantly “on”
And what I noticed when I finally had room to hear myself think
What I gained wasn’t productivity or discipline.
It was presence.
I had more time to read, cook, breathe, ogle the flowers (even if they messed with my allergies), make eye contact with my kids, and just be. I didn’t realize how fractured my attention had become until I gave it a chance to settle. And let me tell you—peace and quiet aren’t overrated.
If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, scattered, or just sick of living by the next ding or dopamine hit, I hope this video is your permission slip to take a step back.
You don’t need to do anything extreme. You just need to pause.
Even a little space can bring you back to yourself.
If you enjoy slow living in real life—not the polished, performative kind, but the honest, thoughtful, sometimes-a-little-messy kind—I’d love to have you over on YouTube.
